New MINI at British Mini Fair

What superb display of new MINIs in Pride of Ownership at Mini Fair. The quality this year has again moved up a level. I was one of the judges and boy was it a tough job.

We don't use points at this show which makes it doubly hard. We spoke to every owner and the enthusiasm was incredible from everyone and long may it continue. We are working on ways to expand the concours at Himley for new MINI and we will be introducing special awards. More on that over the coming months.

A few comments have been made regarding the 1/4 tank of fuel ruling. This is out of our hands the Staffordshire Fire Service introduced this. Originally they wanted nil fuel in everyones tank. After a lot of negotiaton we managed to get them to agree to 1/4. Unfortunatly they will not budge on that. This rule has also Been introduced at the NEC now.

We are aware of the lack of MINI traders, we contact all the ones we can and for some reason they do not like to come to shows. Personally I think it is an excellent chance to advertise your business direct to MINI people. We will be working to get them to come next year. If you know any traders perhaps you could let them know what they are missing.

As a club we have supported and promoted MINI ever since the first designs appeared in 1995 and we will continue to do so. The majority of people who run the BMC own and run a MINI

We are trying to build the MINI scene at shows and please help us to do this

Fancy Being in an Advert?

How would you and your Mini like to feature in a new advert? We have been contacted by the company below who are looking for a Classic Mini owner who can sing. Interested? Please read the following below, and if interested contact Amy and please mention the British Mini Club

My name is Amy Gairdner and I work for a company called Biscuit. We are casting for an advert for Tick Tock tea (Redbush-South African). We are looking for a cross section of British society and people/objects that represent Britain. We would like someone to sit in their classic Mini sipping a cup of tea and singing 'Im a little teapot...'. If the Mini has a union jack on the side or on the bonnet then even better, but its not very important. What would be great is if the mini is mostly red. He or she will be intercut with other people in other parts of the country singing the same song. The filming will take place around the 4th Feb and will only take 1 hour.

If it appeals to anyone can you please send me a picture of yourself and your mini, hopefully via email - amygairdner@hotmail.co.uk

TV Company need your help

We have recently been contacted by the company below who would like to find a classic Mini owner to take part in a TV programme.

Interested? If so please read the following and if you contact them please remember to mention the British Mini Club.

I’m a producer at TV production company betty and we’re making a pilot with James Martin about classic cars for a major broadcaster.

for one element of the taster
programme I’m looking for a Mini enthusiast, preferably in the South East who would be interested in us filming with them as they show us their Mini, talk about why they love Minis so much and allow us to film the car.

It would take a few hours sometime over the next few weeks and would be a very small crew of 4: one cameraman, a soundman, a director and me.

We need to find someone quickly
